Quick n00b question, i\'ve been looking at a Turbo II recently to get back in the Rotary scene after a good 2 years driving around a hot hatch to save money.

The one in question is currently on 65k from new! Obviously on a piston engine that would be a great pick up, but it has never had a re-build and currently i would not be able to afford one.

I feel i\'m heading for trouble buying as if i remember the engine\'s are usually only really good upto 65k(with good maintainance) and as the T2 would be my daily driver i cant afford it to go pop! Any advice i could get would be greatly appreciated!

I\'m not up for rushing into anything either, because i\'d ideally rather keep saving and get a FD next year, just this one came up and having owned an FC EGI i never reeally got to experience the RX in its full T2 glory!

Thanks for reading, hope someone can advise!

If it\'s not had a rebuild, you need it as a daily and you won\'t have spare funds if it goes bang I should wait if I were you. I know it\'s hard to overrule your heart with your head (I\'m no better) but just sounds like it\'d be the safer option.

Engine can go up 125ish K miles. Dependant purely on how they\'re looked after and how much boost they run. TBH If you can\'t afford to rebuild it go for a rebuilt one. Or get it compression checked. Rotaries really are reliable, you\'ve just gotta treat them right. I\'ve owned 3 without a single hitch!!!

Beware of buying an FC, you\'ll get hooked and not want the fd!

I don\'t know. Look at M1tch\'s car. He\'s got a TII thats not been rebuilt and its 80K ish iirc. Compression check would be a good start.

Ah DtheB beet me too it!
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

I have owned an FC already, but i think the log term goal will always be an FD they\'re tuner porn!

Back to subject anyway. Did anyone else see the white one on ebay? Ended today with no bids started @ £1500! Might have to go check it out then if you guys think it might be okay! Thing is, im not gonna lie, i fancy nipping down to Pod to do some DWYB in it!

You think maybe this isn\'t wise without a re-build?

Thanks for comments so far!

ah mate i remember seeing your old one in tesco\'s. You still in the 106?

As for the DWYB comment. They\'re not really drift ready out of the box. You\'ll wanna be eliminating the rear steer and adding more lock + sort out some sort of diff.

Without a rebuild is fine as long as it\'s not showing signs of wear, should really get one compression checked really

Strange concept I know but check for Service History {shock} ;)

For a daily driver you want to know it has been looked after - that means (i) low number of previous owners and (ii) service history.

My FC was 1 owner from new and lasted till 116,000 before he had it rebuilt.

Oh sure, i know they need a few mods before drifting. And yeah still got the 106 , its up for sale now though but i\'m not rushing to sell it because i\'ve spent a bit on it.

Yeah i wouldn\'t buy one without service history. Thanks a lot for all the help!

p.s. if it\'s the one in CCW then £5k seems a bit steep even with a service history  ;)

It was on ebay, with a £1500 starting bid! Ended now, but to be fair i could do with getting rid of my car first!
