Is this a good idea?? Ive heard peep\'s saying that this then enables full flow of cold oil around the engine till its warmed up which doesnt sound so appealing, but nor does an engine seizing up when it fails!
Any thoughts??

the difference in warm up time was unnoticeable.....but knowing the shim wont fail is worth it

It\'s easy enough to test the wax thermo pellet thingy - in hot water - and check it\'s working ok.  I checked mine before rebuilding.  The pellet is there for a reason after all.
