Cant find my haynes manual at the moment, lol

if you take the cover off the hand brake (held on by 1 screw) then you will see a screw thing (very technical) using a flat head screw driver or butter knife, turn that accordingly to tighten or loosen :)
you will see the end of the wire move up or down within the screw bit.

think it was 3 or 4 clicks and it should be at max holding strength

Right, tightened it up (thankyou) and with the handbrake on I cant pull away, which I could before, so score.  However, quick yank of the handbrake whilst driving (slowish speeds in a carpark away from any people/cars) supplies me with absolutely feck all.  Should the wheels lock, or is that not the handbrakes purpose?

See alot of drifters initiating with std handbrakes, yet mine does nothing, at all

Mine is like that too, even with uprated pads. So I am interested in the anwser if anyone knows.

neil, how many clicks to hold the hand brake on so car does not move?

maybe yank harder lol or turn a bit before you yank?
(im no drifter so just guessing)

No idea on how many clicks, but pretty much all the way up, when moving it just slows it down, and tried a few different ways, lol

Ive driven an s13 on track which when the standard handbrake was pulled locked up immediately

try tightening it more. full handbrake lock i think should be 3 clicks maybe 4.
mine was going all the way to about 80 degrees before and didnt hold. now its only about 30 degrees.

i could put mine on as far as it went and still move the wheels by hand .. wonder why it failed the MOT :)

You can adjust the cable at the rear calipers and it may well be worth adjusting there initially and get it set up as per the manual and then use the front adjuster to fine tune.
