Door Handle install difficulties

So I finally got the FD out of storage and replaced air filter and moved  on to install my door handle (right side).  No issue removing the  old and replacing it with the new door handle.  However,  it opens and  closes fine til I lock it then I can\'t open my door or unlock it.  I  have to pull it all apart to open the door again.  

What\'s going on?  Need some help, just spent last 3 hours with the same result.
