Thread revival!

Just curious about all this rear plate cracking malarkey - if said fc engine was mounted in an fb, thereby mounting from the front and having less weight, would that mean that cracking would be less likely to occur?

Good question - the problem with the FC is that the engine mounts are in the centre iron - so the twisting forces from the transmission are trying to twist the rear section of the engine.  I guess with a front mounted 13B - the whole engine will receive the force - which is less likely to produce the same stress I would say - but not really sure.  FD\'s mount at the rear of the engne - which I guess is the better location for high power engines.
