well i currently own 3 rx7 fc\'s, 2 turbos and an egi, egi is all working and mot\'d, turbo is a rolling shell, and finally got my other turbo running yesterday after buying it as a non runner with electrical problems.

fitted a straight through exhaust to it as well. so now sounds mad.

the car will end up being a track day/ drift car for my company, so will be having a full on build probably next year, but for now i would just like to get it looking good and simple mods to get the car track ready.

what are the best mods for std engine/turbo to get as much power as possible. exhaust fitted, i was thinking the usual lines of front mount, walbro, induction filter, boost controller, uprated rad, electric rad fan, removal of emission control, any other ideas, and any tips or things i need to know.

rest of the mods for the minute will be limted to coilovers, hydro handbrake, wheels, bodykit, 2 way diff, strip out, bucket seats, and a few other bits and bobs, then get it on track and get to grips with it.

thanks for any advice.

On the OEM turbo, a FMIC might be a bit laggy, perhaps get an uprated top mount like me. Also it might be an idea to upgrade the OEM wastegate actuator for the stock turbo, the fueling will max out at 0.9 bar, so might be an idea to get an e-manage ultimate and upgrade the fueling in the secondaries :)

I think you have listed the main things to do. Just remember that a straight through exhaust, intake and some better free flowing intake pipes is enough to get those boost spikes so look after the turbo, porting it will help. Money is the key here and as long as you plan it all out you can get some good BHP increases for not a lot of money but I would definately above anything else go for quality of the products.  You get what you pay for and when rebuilds will start from £2K you need to preserve the engine whilst you are thrashing the A$se of it. Quality will definately help you here.

agree fmic will be a bit laggy on stock (speaking from experience) :)
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

Just re-read your list of bits, don\'t forget an uprated clutch, the OEM clutch will start slipping as its almost maxxed out on OEM power levels :rollin

with the stock tub running 0.9 bar you could probably just about survive with the stock fuel system as long as its in good nick. you could run more boost but there isn\'t alot of point. As for the front mount, i\'d speak to the hat. He drifts with a front mount. Tbh i doubt it would be that laggy + cooling when drifting is extremely important

he got the fmic from me lol
on stock engine with cone, 3" exhaust, it was a bit laggier than topmount but was not the end of the world lol

My uprated top mount is awesome and has no lag whatsoever :D it instantly spools to 0.5bar as soon as I go near the throttle :D

I think its important to differentiate between turbo spool time lag and boost response... the intercooler shouldn\'t really have any effect on how quick your turbo spools up?

I really doubt that even a large fmic will have a significantly noticeable "lag" anyway, especially if you have upgraded to a larger turbo as well.

which is probably the only reason why you\'d go down the fmic route as you are exceeding the power potential of your stock turbo and therefore need better cooling
