hello peeps, when i bought my rx7 it had already come with an aftermarket cd player, its an alpine mda-w779jb. the problem i am having with it at the moment is i was messing around with it one day and then all of a sudden my ariel went up and stayed up until i turn off the ignition so now when im driving around im stuck with it up when it used to only go up when i selected "fm". thanks in advance, gazza

Assuming it\'s not the aerial that\'s stuck (ie it does go back down when you turn the ignition off) it may be the traffic alert on the radio? Mine set itself to have the traffic alert/auto tune function on when the battery went flat, and I couldn\'t work out why the aerial was up all the time. Turning the TA/AF both off cured it. (Thanks again to GhostWKD!)

reconnect the earth to a different location mate normal jap radios use bolt in cages if you go after market the cage usually sits onto plastic putting a break in the curcit . if you connect the aerial the stereo works because it uses the body mount as an earth . another issiue is when you crank up the volume the stereo can cut out or flash badly this can be lack of power or that the earth is not good enough !
so connnect a good seperate earth to the black wire on the alpine loom  and the aerial should retract . if not you have antenna isiues.

for anttenna sorting find the aerial in the rear right of an fd the motor will have three wires going to it earth live and switch live . ( some again may use body mounts as and earth so only two wires ) . check you have a live and earth and a switched 12vs that means when the aerials on you should be able with a test meter to see two 12v wires and one earth . when the stereos off you should see one earth  one 12v and a 0 reading on the other wire . if all this is correct tthe motor might me dead if any of this sequence dosnt happen you have found your fault .
easy way to test 1.find your earth 2. find the perminant 12v 3. find your switched live 4. cut switched live and aerial should go down .or if you want to test it going up directly connect the switched live wire to the perminant 12v feed and aerial should extend . hope that helps
