alright chaps

this is my first post an all, and i was wondering if someone could help me out. I purchased an FD at the weekend and the day after i picked it up the indicators stopped working.

If i use the stalk for left or right i get no indicator lights on the dash, or outside the car. Also when i press the hazard switch i get the same behaviour. The first obvious thought was the fuse. However i checked that and it looked fine. I also replaced it but still no indicators.

Interestingly when i arm/disarm the alarm (Autowatch) the indicators work.

I would really appreciate anyones thoughts on this as i want to start enjoying my new car!

A wiring diagram would make this easier but it would of thought it somewhere between the alarm system and stalks.

Check the connections fromthe stalks to the alarm then hazzard to the alarm. My alarm is just above the steering column.

get a volt reader to the indicator wiring and check for power. If you search this forum its come up a few times however its one of those things that you need to trace.

Some one had 1 faulty bulb which can cause behavior like this. Another common one is the f100 unit which packs up. its a large plastic control unit that sits in the drivers foot well. Also there is a black box in the same foot well not sure what this is called. It could also be a bad earth.

Most will recommend you start with a volt meter and check power readings. Should be able to get guides from here;

Yea I would look at getting a replacement f100 as my indicators packed up when I got my car and it was down to the f100 not wrking, check eBay or make a new post asking if anyone has any spare 1s for sell,

shielsy

thanks for the replies chaps. whats the going rate for an f100?

shielsy

aaaah just been doing a bit of reading up on the f100 and things are starting to make some sense.

Another slight issue i have with the car is the alarm just goes off randomly, even with the sonics disabled. it turns out the feed for the boot and bonnet pins comes from the f100 as well. could well be a likely cause for the alarm throwing a fit, as well as the indicators not working!

About £30 for an f100, u can always get ur f100 fixed aswell at an electrical shop

I got mine from a member on here for £25 delivered if i remeber correctly but mine was a problem with the windows not the indicators.

Repairing them isnt always the best option but if may be the only way.. look on ebay, i know theres someoe breaking 2 fd\'s

shielsy

problem solved. one of the connectors into the F100 was not plugged in properly.

hasn\'t sorted the alarm though :-(
