I think my charge relief valve is faulty can I replace it with the original bov from the car or do they work different? They look the same.

Bobbit

for fault finding you can swap them over but they are slightly different so not ideal

Ok will try. I\'m loosing boost when changing gear at wot so I think it could be the charge relief valve or it\'s solenoid in the rasts nest.

Bobbit

Not sure i fully understand the issue if I\'m honest bud, you should loose boost when you change gear then get it back when you press the loud pedal ;-)

Yeah i just get a loss of power when changing gear but both turbos work fine through the rev range. Think I might just save up and go single then set fire to the rasts nest.

Any time you lift of the gas you will lose boost - thats normal. I\'m presuming you do lift off when you dip the clutch to change up?

The throttle butterflys close when you lift off - the air has no where to go other than back through the turbos - the BOV gets rid of the excess pressure to prevent that, thats its job.

its when i stomp back on the gas i loose boost and it makes a strange sound kind of like air wooshing past the turbo fins.

You checked all the pipes for leaks, apparently the Y pipe can crack

mread4

yeah ive replaced all the pipes and check valves in rasts nest. The turbos have been recondition. The black air tanks seem to be holding pressure. cant see any cracks in the y pipe. it boosts fine in any gear just when im fast off the gas then back on.

SiH

It\'s not the Y pipe that cracks, it\'s the silicon joiner between it and the crossover pipe that often goes. Take it off and have a close look. It sounds liek you\'ve got na excessively laggy setup, which seems more often than not to be boost leak related, rather than vac hosing in the nest \'o death..

Think I\'m going to have a good nose around at all the pipes for a boost leak. I\'m in the market for a power fc so as soon as i\'ve found one I might take the car to wgt.
