Been having a few, not so much issues, but some irregularities with the EGI lately.

The current spec is a stock ECU, no air pump, equal length headers and aftermarket exhaust.

On start up she doesn\'t do the initial 3k rev for a few seconds, then drop to idle. Only happens on a slightly warm day, but as it\'s cold of late nothing at all apart from firing straight up to idle.

When she\'s running from cold, you drive down the road and as soon as you pull up to a junction the revs drop and stall. After the running temp picks up a bit this isn\'t an issue.

And (this could be down to the exhaust being a better flowing one) when coasting from the motorway, or changing down through the gears there\'s a lot of popping and banging from the exhaust. Mates have seen some nice blue flames too so i\'ve been told.

Can anyone help with the above?

Cheers

You sound about right with the exhaust and the popping and banging/flamage. From what I have read the EGI\'s are more prone to it. Which is a good thing in my opinion!
When you start the car do you just turn the key or do you put it in gear or press the clutch down? Pressing the clutch eliminates the cold start idle. If not then perhaps it is a TPS issue. It may need to be callibrated. Hope this helps. If not I am sure someone that knows more than me will be along shortly.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Mike,

I am by no means an EGI guru, however yours sounds scarily similar to mine!

The stalling might be because the cold start has been removed or is broken.  This is a pain in the ass and creates new and exciting ways to drive, for example left foot breaking, or my prefered method; club foot across the excellerator and the break!

The popping comes from the screamer pipe.  I see this as a perk of owning an FC and use it to strategically annoy pedestrians and chavs, try to time your throttle blips for maximum effect!!
The flames are also a perk and make your car go faster.  However this hurts the pocket a little as you know thats just money burning out your exhaust...

But seriously this does sound like the cold start and the screamer pipe, like I said I\'m fairly new to rotaries so feel free to correct me if i\'m way out of line!

Lol i\'m not complaining :D It\'s just a guy at work who had an FB was concerned that the flames and pops could somehow lead to wearing the rotor tips quicker :3Confused

I don\'t touch the pedals at all, I leave it to start itself. I\'ll get under the bonnet the weekend and chech the TPS. Throttle cable needs adjusting too while i\'m under there!

Good call on the "clubbing" the throttle and brake. Been getting used to the heel n toe when braking so that helps a lot. Not sure what ya mean by screamer pipe? Only know of those on turbo fitted cars as an aftermarket add on. Don\'t know about the flames making you go faster... but they seem to entertain people when i\'m changing down through the gears!
