I\'ve only had the car a week and all has been great. All except a bit of a rich smelling start up which I assumed was the norm for a 1989 RX. The last few days, mostly after a trip from Portsmouth to Croydon and back, she\'s been having trouble starting when warm and theres been a real strong petrol smell when she fires up. I remember being told that if this happens it could be a leaky injector? The engine is a recent rebuild 8kish ago so the tips cant be worn yet! :2eek But there are other times she fires straight away! A bit confused.....
I have a health check booked for the end of the month but tempted to get it in sooner if this problem persists. Any help wuold be great.

Regards

The chambers usually have fuel left in the when you stop, I had this problem after a few hours of leaving it then trying to start, if she wont start, push the accelerator pedal all the way down, turn the engine over to push all the remaining fuel out of the chamber. basically, don\'t worry, its what happens!

Can tell i\'m a noob eh? :evillaugh

Just another quick one. From a full tank, how many miles can you manage before re-filling?

Skifledanabit

depends what kind of driving you do, I can manage about 320 miles motorway driving, but mine\'s an EGi, erm, 200 start stop, regular urban, etc

Im usually driving around town keeping with the steady 2.5k gear changes, and some motorway. Most i\'ve managed so far has been 220ish, and that was with about 80ish miles on the motorway. Think i\'m running the same as you. As your driving the same and getting better miles, that does make me question the fuelling a bit. Might be feeding more than it should? Hopefully the check at the specialist should show anything wrong, fingers crossed.

Skifledanabit

mine is a non turbo and the 300 miles a tank came from motorway driving only

on my TII can do about 200 miles on 3/4 of a tank.
best not to let the fuel level drop too much as when u twang it round corners on low fuel, fuel can slosh about in the tank so no fuel can be pumped to the engine n the engine stutters.

remember, its good to redline these engines once in a drive :)
