i think the damage had already been done by the multi-sided socket/two foot long pole combo.

Would recommend a small squirt of WD40 and some mole grips (don\'t overdo the WD40 though) The bolt should then be quite re-useable methinks  :King

If you can access the head of the nut simply drill a 1/16th or 1/8th hole down one side of the nut parallel to the axis (towards the strut) and split it off with a cold chisel. 1/16th or 1/8th drill depending on size of the nut. In other words break the nut like those tools above do.

Used to happen all the time before i got a proper set of sockets with Hip Grip rather than Corner grip.  You can get anything off with a hip grip socket and have never rounded one off yet :D
