does that sound like its blown or have i spun a seal any advise would be helpfull?

just over 1000rpm is normal is depending on your engine setup, what was it before??

on the passengers side, above the oil filter there is what is called a map sensor that is bolted to the bulkhead. check the pipe going to it.

Mate

I am in North London ( Crouch End)

Where are you ?, I could help you out, but it looks like an identical problem I had on my FD - stepped on it in first gear laid off the throttle at around 7 000 revs and I had the symptoms like yours ( chipped a rotor)

Took it to Powergains Motor Sport (Romford) and Kerim had to re-build my engine    (about a year ago)

just checked the map sensor and it looks fine but i just checked the oil and it was below minimum i cant belive it i always check the oil every weekend but you could be right about the rotor, whats the best option for me shall i remove the engine my self to save some money and i also have a single turbo waiting to go on either way ill have to save for abit

Can you drive the car?  I drove mine on 1 rotor (sounds exactly like a tractor) to Kerim\'s to have an RX7 specialist opinion...he is a superb mechanic
You may just be lucky but prepare for the worst...

Incidentally, if you have a single turbo with all the auxiliarys (you will need a few) you will be presently surprised at Kerim\'s prices

Equally, you will sell some part which will become redundant when you go single thus recovering some costs

He re-built my engine, polished the exhaust ports, set up some hard pipes and the cost was shockingly good

I am not sure you will save much by taken the engine out in the first place plus whatever chipped the rotor must be corrected or it may finfish your new rebuild in minutes

Nothing like an RX7 specialist mate...

Sounds more like lower intake manifold gasket has gone. I don\'t recall ever seeinga n engine on one rotor idling as high as 1000rpm. I would check that for leaks before pulling the engine.
