Hi RX7

Does anyone know if you can vented headlight covers that have the vent on both sides either plain or carbon fibre? I think both would look more balanced if anyone can make them I\'d also be interested.

i have only really seen them for one side not sure if u can get them for passenger side

chrisJDM

which style where you after??

Hi RX7

I must admit I\'ve only ever seen them on the right, I have contacted the company that were at Japfest but they don\'t even make the headlight covers.

I prefer the ones with the recessed vent rather than the hump if that makes sense.

I have seen a picture with a car with twin vents but i may of been a one off.
not much point in having the near side one really as it not going to be feeding air to anything. Does make the car look more balanced though i guess.
Have wondered if having the farside one really make much difference too

Hi RX7

I\'ve had a look to see if I can duct some cool air from the front 99 spec nose the car has but there\'s not enough space for any ducting.

chrisJDM

i think most people just have them for looks, i think if you are gonna get one for the passenger side you may have to get it custom made im afraid

My C West let very little air through at all, and looked gash. IMHO you\'b be much better sorting some proper ducting under the bonnet. I\'m not talking \'cold air feeds\', just channelling the air that comes in.

I fibre glassed my own in the cover, reali easy. You can buy pemixed fibre glass from halfords. Then you can make any shape or size you want, i\'ll take a picture if iremember.

I\'ve tried to fathom out some way of getting air ducted in and around the filters but with a large front mounted intercooler and twin oil coolers its difficult, plus I dont want to spoil the lines of the car I just thought the headlight covers if done in a recessed way would look good and help with underbonnet heat gain in summer months.

If you have any photos jowell 16 I\'d like to see them.

If you take the headlight cover off and look at the cage mount for the light itself, you\'ll realise that vented headlight covers are more a fashion thing than any significant airflow modification. Most of the air they would let in goes straight into a big lump of headlight assy, and any that makes it past that would exit too far back to be much help for the air intakes, though they may offer some feeble bit of air flow to the turbo/downpipe area.

With all that said, they do look cool, and it can\'t hurt, can it!? I\'ve got a Border one and I love the look of it, and the assymetric thang works for me ;)

Hi RX7

I\'ve bought an Attain headlight cover which I plan to fit onto the car I\'m then going to set up my leaf blower and see if I can create a path of air with the aid of some cotton thread and a bit of ducting sounds Heath Robinson I know but you never know till you have a go. I am in the business of composites so hopefully I\'ll get a left side made the same and probably get them in carbon fibre with just a light coat of black paint so the carbon fibre is just visible as I have a customer with an F40 and the paint is so thin you see the carbon fibre under the paint its a fantastic effect.
