Went to start my FD3 this morning and it made an attempt to turn over, followed by nothing much from the starter motor (could hear it dying as I tried.)  the electrics still work - but not enough voltage for the starter motor...

The battery was new 6 weeks ago, and I am pretty damn sure that I did not leave anything electrical on in the car to drain it.

Are there any common electrical faults that could drain the battery on an FD3?

First thing to check is that the alternator is charging the battery properly ie not charging at 11 volts instead of around 14.

If you have PFC and commander then you can easily check on there.

Thanks - just had the RAC out to check - diagnosed as faulty battery.  Can\'t find the receipt for it - so a brand new one had gone on.....
