Right. Been boning up on exhausts and boost related tuning tips tricks and know how for a little while now but theres a need for some revision

Im looking into geting a Panspeed chipped ECU thats maped for exhaust and induction mods and fitting a 2.5 inch downpipe and a 3 inch straight through exhaust (no cats or mid silencers)

If i install this Panspeed ECU which has the fuel cut for standard 8.8PSI overboost already removed and port the wastegate on the standard turbo will it be safe to run the car with said 2.5" downpipe and 3" exhaust?

I\'ll install a BOV, boost controler and gauge as well in order to be able to keep an eye on the boost.

My thinking is..... Instaling the exhaust is going to end up making the cars standard turbo spool up far to quickly, so porting the wastegate and fitting a BOV ought to keep boost levels in check right? Also the timing and fueling on the standard ECU will be out of whack for a big exhaust plus if the boost creeps past 8.8PSI the ECU will cut fuel to the rear rotor. So to combat this problem i instal the chipped ECU which is mapped for fuel and timing adjustments and has the 8.8PSI fuel cut set higher (to what i dont know but i dont want to go much higher than that anyway!!!!) Finaly i install a boost controler (and a guage) and set it to something like 9.5/10PSI to be able to stop boost rising to 1646378434PSI and blowing the engine to bits

Am i right so far? Will following that plan lead to "7" valhalla or the 7th circle of hell?:Laugh

I always use Shell V power and have done since day 1 so might that also protect against knock/detonation at high boost/RPM??

Thanks guys, i really appreciate all the help and advise i\'ve gotten from you all so far :Thumbs-up

Without knowing too much about the chipped ECU - that downpipe will help restrict the turbo anyway - it\'d be my guess that you could run a 3" pipe and still be ok.

Also, until you get your boost controller, I\'d disconnect the stock boost solenoid and pinch off both pipes to stop it leaking - that will make the turbo limit the boost on the wastegate spring alone and should keep it from going too high - it might still hit 9 psi on the stock spring :)

Yeah its actually a 70mm (2 and 3/4 inch) Tanabe downpipe and the exhaust is 3" so it should be okay. I dont want to mess around with boost levels to much. If i can get 250BHP i\'ll be happy. Christ 230 would do!

I think it\'s MUCH better and easyer to rip weight out of the car to make it faster! Not only faster but a better handler and braker! Thats how i\'m going to do things from now on! Lol! Weight saving FTW!:Giggle

Your going to see a lot of carbon fibre.... this that and the next thing wanted posts from me in the future!

Cheers prof, always glad to hear advise from you man, you seem to be a cat who is on the ball!:King

Whats the boost solonoid? Is that the thing that sits on the drivers side suspention strut tower in the engine bay? Mine has 1 pipe going in and 1 electrical conection.

thats the MAP? (not sure wot is called) but thats where you plug the FCD into, oh, still waiting for my fc back so can take a pic for you, kinda lucky i took to garage when i did, means she didnt sit outin the snow all week hehe)
back to topic!
the solinoid would be a round cylinder thing with like a metal stick sticking out.
dont know where it is but i\'d imagin its next to the actuator or turbo, maybe hidden under that metal plate thing just above the tub.
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

Boost solenoid is the one that\'s mounted up on the oil neck - it\'s blue I think - bit in any case it\'s on it\'s own and not in the row of 4.  If you unplug the hoses from it\'s ends, and just cap them off - it make the turbo only work on spring boost - which will keep the boost down a little - in any case, when you fit a boost controller this isn\'t needed anyway.  It\'s just a safety mod for when you run the chipped ECU / upgraded Exhaust.
