I\'ve finally done it - I\'m getting rid of the daily driver and I\'m replacing it with an RX8.

All those horsies, in a light and very tight chassis, under warranty, how good is that? And four doors and four actual real proper seats, and it cruises nicely on the motorway, and you can really chuck it round B-roads, and and and...

I know you\'ll ask, so I chose the RX over the 350 because it provides a better contrast to GT-style lardy second car I already have (300ZX), and I thought the handling on the RX was better, despite the flat-ride stuff on the 350. (The 350 is undoubtedly quicker in a straight line though, and easier to get the best out of.)

Apparently I am the first to order Lightening Yellow - although whether that was first in Bolton or in Manchester generally I don\'t know...

It\'s a-comin in "late July". What\'s the deal with options and trick bits? I wasn\'t really offered any other than Satnav and leather. (And is the leather in the yellow two-tone?)

I\'ve got some questions for owners, if you don\'t mind, rather than the official lines - although I am quite impressed by dealing with Mazda in general so far.

I\'m used to thirsty cars, but does the RENESIS benefit from Optimax / Ultimate?

How fast does it really consume oil, and is Helix a good choice? If so, which one?

It definitely likes the revs - will it suffer with late shifts all the time, or are they built for it? (Assuming I\'m careful with oil levels.)

Any meets round here? (Bolton) Presume you have stands at Trax and JAE?

And anyone want to buy a used Leon TDI? :rollin

Hi and welcome to the MazdaRX-8Club / Mazdarotaryclub.com

Wow what an excellent choice, but then l am a little biased !
Saw my first yellow RX-8 on the road on Saturday and l must say l was more than impressed !!!,

A man in Japan mailed me a few months ago to say he felt l would be unimpressed as his RX-8 was a lemon colour, but Mazda told me it would be a \'solid\' yellow and it is, sort of between my yellow and the lemon one he sent me a pic of.

Anyway enough drooling.

1/ Optimax will keep the inside of your Rotary clean and free from carbon, which is good for a Rotary.

2/ Oil consumption seems to vary on these cars and the imput of oil is throttle related!
Some of these cars have actually used no oil between oil changes.

Your oil consumption should go down though as the miles go on, as these engines take a long time to run in fully, also the upside is that the fuel consumption should get a little better when fully run in.

Not too sure about different oils yet but as it is essentially the same engine in all of the older Rotary cars you should be O/K with most NON synthetic Oils.

Hope this helps.

p.s. l will keep you a place along side my car on the Billing stand ( we are booked to go with 100 places ):) :) :) :) :) :)
All the best Clive

Well, I have to admit I saw a heavily modded RX-7 at Trax in yellow, and that was an influence. ;)

I think the yellow is different overseas, because I\'ve seen official Mazda photos of both. The sample in the showroom was definitely not washed-out lemon!

I\'ll keep collecting the Top Trumps by the look of it then...

NON synthetic? Bugger! (cheaper though, I suppose.)

Billing... well, you never know, the delivery date might just allow that. ;)
