Hi guys

Im at a halting point on the rebuild process. After an amazing night last night and getting the engine out in only 2 and a half hours today ive had a bit more of a slow process. Got the engine stripped down to its last parts but cant for the life of me get the front pulley nut off. Ive tried air gun, big bar, bigger bar, scaffold pole, but nothing will shift it??

Is it a normal right hand thread or reverse thread? Also what tool do people use to get it off??

Help please.

Hi Andy, been a while, hope you\'re good, nice to see you doing this aswell lol, seems everyones having a go at rebuilding themselves these days  :)

I had trouble with this one too when i did mine, you deffo need to heat the nut up as it has threadlock and sealant all over it and you have warm this and melt it first.  A normal blow torch is fine, but obv oxy-acetylene will be quicker :)

Once warmed up enough you should be able to undo it.  Will still be tight and you\'ll prob still need the lever but it will undo.

Oh its normal right hand thread too.  I used a 3/4 breaker bar and impact socket just so it wouln\'t break.

Ayup mate. Yeah it has been a while. I was just reading your rebuild threads. Were off to buy a 3/4 drive tomorrow as we\'ve only got 1/2 inch. I tried heating the nut up today but didn\'t seem to help, mind you, the blow torch wasn\'t too string either. Lol. Can you drop me a pm withtour number mate as I might well be phoning you tomorrow for advice. If you don\'t mind of course.

I had the block sitting on the ground.

I then put a screwdriver through one of the holes on the flywheel to stop it moving. Also wedged the block so it wouldn\'t topple.

I then swang like a mofo on the breaker bar and it eventually came loose. I did think it was going to snap at one point though!

I had to heat it up with oxy-acetalene and then swing like an ape from the 3/4" breaker bar. What a sight! At least its off though.

i did that jim, it was a big thick screw driver and it still bent the screw driver!

i used i big breaker bar with a friend hanging off the end, then i flogged the breaker bar with sledge hammer and it came loose :D
i ended up put the flywheel in a vice to hold it still, but i did that because i had an aftermarket one to put on after.
