my boost doesnt cut in until i go past 4.500 revs then it will cut in so if i pull away from traffic lights i have no boost but rev it up to 4.500 and it cuts in then will work fine until i let the revs drop right down again

Bobbit

sounds like a prob I had. Have you got a boost guage fitted? If so what pressure are you seeing on the 1st turbo?
:Laugh LOL

i have a greddy boost gauge and it reads about 0.6/0.7 on first turbo

Jono FD3

???? so the first turbo is working??

You should have 0.7 bar until about 4000 where it will drop to about 0.6 then at 4500 you will have full boost again untill red line!

if you are having no boost till 4500 rpm then the primary turbo is shot & to be honest the second turbo wouldn\'t activate as the solonoids use the boost pressure from the primary turbo to activate the valvs which spool up the second turbo @ 4000rpm!

the first turbo wont work until i have gone past 4500 then it will all work fine in everygear until i let the revs drop below 1000 then it wont work until i have gone past 4500 again

neil_jdmr

So just to clarify fella, From 1800rpm to 4500rpm you are not getting any boost on your boost guage. Then from 4500rpm to redline you are seeing 0.7bar.

Is this correct

no ok i will try and explain lol
When i first pull away i have no boost.if i slowly drive taking the revs to 4500 the boost will suddenly cut in then can change to 3rd and have boost at 2000 onwards and so on through all gears butif i let the revs go bellow 1000 when i put my foot down again i have no boost until it gets back to 4500 first.
hope this explains it better:Laugh

Ok, seen this before, have a look here: clicky.

I fitted a pressure regulator and also changed one 2 of my solenoids and it fixed the prob. But the above link should give you loads of info on what is causing the prob and ways to fix it.

What pressure regulator did you purchase and where from Bobbit?
