richard

p.s whos already seen his car in the flesh?

Prof

I\'ve seen the car at Rotechniks - he spent a lot of money getting the bodywork sorted, and it shows.  A good clean example.

Don\'t know much about the engine.

grinder

i have seen it in the flesh and its a very nice example

the guy who sprayed it came to my house to look how it should look and he seems to know what he was talking about !

Quote from: richrx;561686dmdriftion - do you know the answers to these questions? afaik a cold compression test will give a higher result, giving better readings than the engine has, as compression falls when its warm, hence worn engines starting from cold but flooding when you restart it once its hit operating temp.

richard

Ah ha this will explain the plume of fuel smoke on start up once warm, just on the off chance how long will an engine run for in this state before it goes pop?

I\'m gutted

richrx

is it water seals? my Fd poped about 3 weeks later, but the FC shouldnt go pop(so i hear), keep it toped up with water so it doesnt run dry and overheat.

i\'d be tempted to buy head gasket sealer from a car shop(like rad weld, but for the hg), see if that seals it for a while longer too, only a few quid. If the  engines struggling then it cant hurt surely?

p.s please check into this more before you do it, and never believe all you read in an internet forum :Hammer

my mini disclaimer, just incase!!!

DMDRIFTING

Geoff thinks its a sticky seal, hence letting in more fuel to the following chamber, hence the grey/white \'high octane smelling\' smoke on start up ha ha

Going to get it rebuilt as it won\'t be to bad or cost tooo much fingers crossed

Thanks for help too

Putting anything temporary like that on a performance engine isn\'t a good idea, thats a bit like using gaffa tape on an F1 engine, sure it might work for a bit but won\'t last long and will do more damage when it fails.
