was fitting HID\'s onto my fc yesteday n it all works.. today when i went to start her up there was no battery power at all.
tried to jump start it but when it was all wired up no lights came up when i turned the key.

when i went to connect the +ive from hid to battery i think i touched sth metal as sparks were flying.
the lights n batt was still working hence can test the hids but just today theres no electricity at all.

have checked the main fuse block in engine bay and also under footwell but none are blown.

any ideas..?

A lot of HID kits come with a pair of fuses for the inverters, included in the harness they supply - I suspect it\'s quite likely you\'ve taken them out. They will be 20A standard blade fuses most likely.

oops.. i should correct..

theres no current running throughout the car.
no interior lights.. no central locking.. nothing =(

when the fc is hooped up to jump start then no current flows through the fc and still no lights, no life =(

Hi just wondered when you tried jump starting the car did you get any spark when connecting the jump leads. also prob worth disconnecting the hid\'s compleatly and trying again. also check all the cables in the area of where it shorted out as it may not have blown a fuse instead it might have burnt out a cable. one last test you could try is put a muliti meter between the live and ground at the battery connetion with the battery disconnected. This will tell you if you have a dead short. If there is no short also do a test between the negative connector at the bat and the metal frame of the car ie the ground.

Liam,

Try unplugging the big 80A or 100A fuse - I\'ve seen both in FC\'s - think it\'s called \'MAIN\' on the fusebox in the engine bay.  If you\'ve got no power at all.

I\'d also try \'wiggling\' the battery terminals - as they may not be making proper contact.

Sounds like you\'ve left something on over night and completely fried your battery to the point that it wont take any charge etc from a jump pack etc

what will that do if i unplug the main?
surely nothing will happen if i do that?

come think about it.. i think i either burned a wire or worst :eek
for some reason in my fuse box (in engine bay) where the main (100amp) should be.. there is a bit of wire instead of a fuse :(
i think i should get that sorted out pdq!!

not left anything on.. turned the headlights off etc..
jus had alarm on.. really puzzling how i lost all of my electricity.

with the hid, im sure it wont flow current or drain the batt when the headlights are not on.

thinking maybe the alt was not connected properly when i had work done on the car as that can drain / not charge up the batt when driving.

will investigate tmr.

Have you disconnected any earths? Quite strange that none of the fuses have blown.
Does the engine crank? and exactly what does work?

Take the fuse out and re insert it - just in case it\'s got a bad contact

if it was just the battery it would still turn the engine over on a jump start. its def got to be a damaged cable, fuse, or electrical component.

*faint*
after some poking about.. found out the batt is completely dead. cant even jump start the fc!
changed the batt and it works now =)

(yes yes... very stupid i am!! )
