I have just put in a new 6 puck clutch and want to know if what I am feeling is normal or if something is worn or broken? If so what is most likely?

I notice that when pulling away or reversing at low speed without the clutch fully released the car seems to judder/lurch a bit.. It used to do it a little bit with the old clutch when turning around in my driveway for instance but it is very noticable now.. Is it normal with a 6 puck clutch? Is it the clutch trying to slip a bit as I feed in the clutch or is there a mount out or worse?

As far as I  know the diff is stock.. you can jack up one wheel and it spins freely enough?

As soon as the car gains an speed and the clutch is fully released it seems fine. I have only driven it twice so far though!

Thanks

my fc does that. though i been told its sth to do with the LSD.
not sure wot lsd i got in it. it only juddrs when turning at low low speeds but if u start in straight line then theres no judder.

this prob is nt much help to you but hey ho, ur not the only one with this syndrome / problem lol

Thanks for the reply.

It does feel very much like the symptons associated with an LSD and when you turn tightly and slowly that\'s when it\'s worse.. it feels like it\'s trying to drag the inside wheel a bit.. But then surely there is no LSD that you can jack one wheel and turn it freely?

Also it does it in a straight line as well just as you start to pull away or reverse.. and reverse is worse.

I know my rear suspension bushes have a bit of slack so that won\'t help.. but it doesn\'t feel like it\'s that alone. Is the diff on bushes as well? maybe that have worn out?
Some major investigation is called for this weekend.. but it would be helpful to have some idea of what I am looking for and how I can check it?

LSD\'s can "chatter" on tight cornering.

My Mr2 with a Kaaz LSD would chatter only on near full lock slow cornering. My Skyline with a different LSD (can\'t remember the name), would chatter more - ie not just full lock slow turning.

I thought I might get a few more replies too!

My old Skyline was bad when slow, tight turning! Think the LSD in it was almost locked!

Well I am going to get her up in the air today and have a look and see what I can find if anything!

Yep will be the diff, my Kaaz 1.5 way shakes and judders and bangs like anything on cornering under 20mph

Leeroy,
I had an ACT 6 puck in mine, it juddered when I let the clutch out slowly in any forward direction and in reverse it really shook the car with a screeching sound (like clutch slip).
I managed to loose most of this effect by practicing letting out the clutch at low revs.

This clutch has now been replaced with an Exedy Hyper Single which exhibits slightly less juddering than the 6 Puck, but this maybe due to my driving improving.
I am reliably informed by Pip at WGT this juddering is common with some single plate clutches.

Hope this helps.

Well I got under the back of the car yesterday and had a good look around to check everything was done up.. All look fine and seems tight. So I had a  look around the diff and found the rear mountings and gave them a lever to see if I could get any movement there and oh boy could I! There is a bit front to back and loads side to side with very  little effort. Would I be correct to think this wouldn\'t be normal?
I have put a short video below to try and show it.. looks even worse in reality though!

Let me know if thI am correct and they need changing.. Then I have another fun job to do! I can also get some twist on the outer wishbone bearings.. toe link and forward link seem fine just the main bushes.

Just saw you slipped a reply in there Chris!! Thanks for that! So maybe it\'s not all down to diff mounts then? Sounds exaclty like my car! you can seem to minimise depending on how you catch the clutch.. Maybe the diff bushes are normal as they are?? I know for sure the wishbones need doing and are probably exagerating the problem.

By the way Ash as far as I now I have a free dif not a LTD Slip?

Cheers
