I am using the stock turbo II alternator in the kit car with a universal wiring loom.  The loom has a single wire for the ignition warning light.  The alternator has the charging post which all seems to be working, then there are 2 other wires that plug in the back, if i connect the thinner one to the negative on the bulb it comes on with the ignition but stays on when the engine is running, i think its Neg all the time. If i connect any other combination it doesnt work, including just puting both wies to a bulb.

Can anyone understand the wiring diagram enough to explain how i can get an alternator warning light to work. It would be handy incase i break a belt.

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

No expert but Circuit Diagram shows R going to Ign live and L going to bulb which is also connected to Ign live.

thanks for that,  i\'ll give it a try, whats the worst that could happen  :?

L is alternator light, R is the battery sense wire (to +ve).

i\'m not at home,  my alternator has one plug on the back with 2 wires, excluding the power post.  are they labelled on the alternator?  I assume L is neg for the bulb while the alternator is not spinning and goes positive when it starts spinning thus extinguising the bulb?

i hate electrics!

right, my alt warning light still isnt working :(   The main post goes to the starter, there is 1 plug in the back of the alternator with 2 wires.  If i connect 1 to the ignition 12v+ and the other to the neg on the bulb, with the + on the bulb also going to ignition the light comes on with the ignition but stays on with the engine running.  If i swap the 2 wires coming out of the alternator then the light doesnt work at all,  anyone got any ideas ??? cos i\'m stumped! and i could really do with knowing if i throw a belt.
