Is it easy to check yourself?  I thought 10 mpg was a little on the steep side steep!!

It\'s the only thing I can think it\'ll be... Unlikely to be a gammy sensor or you\'d never see the range of temps.

But the only real way to check is to pull it out and put it in a pan of boiling water and watch it open. But then for the few quid for a new Thermostat you may as well stick a new one in while you\'re at it.

That said, it looks like a total behatch of a job.
Montego Blue 94 R2 FD3S... Bling not included.

It\'s really really easy to replace the stat. 3x10mm bolts, remove the upper hose and the whole filler neck comes off. No need for sealant. Just buy a new stat with surrounding O ring. Will take no more than 20 mins and a tenner.

My temps are sitting at a rock solid 73 and 20 - 30 intake on my V-mount but the cool water temo could be down to having no undertray between the bumper & subframe so the rad gets max air flow all the time!!

73 is too low mate. Engine is not running at peak efficiency at that temp, and as said above the ECU is going to chuck in extra fuel when it\'s cool

Yeah but you have a big old FMIC on there don\'t you? I\'m still on an SMIC behind the rad.

Got a sneaky defusor plan going on in my head at the mo which will sort all these problems out, along with giving me downforce ;)
