Hi All,

I bought a rx7 auto. Its a great car but I do have a problem with it. It ****ing eats fuel. I have a 20 mpg big turbo conversion vrs before, so im used to regular fill ups. I have not been driving the car hard at all.

It has been all town driving. 240km to a tank...**** me...is something wrong with the car thats 9 mpg.?????

Brett

If tis all town driving then it will drink it like its going out of fashion!

2000 rpm crawling most of the time, i knew they were bad just not that bad. 80 will get me 140 miles at this rate. Dam.

LPG or bio fuel an option?

L18M

that sounds about right.. hence i try nt drive short dist esp around london traffic cost me about 10 quic to get to central london b back that like 20 miles and i\'ve nt got any big mods on my fc!

think can do about 200mph on a full tank, 150 miles motor way driving at 70mph ish and 50 miles on A road to get onto motorway. (though a full tank for me is only 3/4 as i dunt let it run below 1/4 tank else it kinda semi dies when going round bends!)

Hmmm - just done a trip this weekend, and actually paid attention to the pump when filling up ;)

total trip was approx 440 miles (according to google maps :King) - mostly motorways (inc lots of traffic / 2nd-gear crawling), plus some single-lane country road stuff.  Mostly running at a boring 70, but with a few bits doing a good 70, and plenty of WoT around the devonshire back roads :o

total fuel there and back: 88 litres - 19.35 UK gallons, apparently.
rounding up for simple maths, that gives me 20 gallons for 440 miles - a nice easy equation = 22mpg :D :Thumbs-up:wiggle:3gears-rh

Edit: should say - the above was a near-stock FD (just uprated apexi twin air intake, and aftermarket \'zorst - stock ecu, no ports, etc)

Jesus, that\'s terrible! An RX-7 that\'s really crap for fuel economy? :Giggle In all seriousness, I\'ve never got as low as like 140 miles from a tank, even with loads of town driving. I can certainly get it under two hundred quite easily, but its usually between 200 to 250 miles from a full tank.Dunno if that helps, really

blanc

200-250  round town is what I would have thought myself not 140 miles. Better get the car in for a service something must be wrong, honestly this is all 2-3k rpm driving

Check your plugs, HT leads, etc, etc. Check fuel filter too.

Quote from: BBCFC;527416think can do about 200mph on a full tank

Cool!! Is that stock or modified?! :Giggle

to be honest - mine is pretty bad on the MPG front - and its an auto aswell ( althought its the FC )

maybe the auto box is a bit pants and uses more juice ??

Driving to London and back from Reading during rush hour, that\'s about half an hour motorway cruising and 40 mins at stop start traffic and I would see 250 miles from a full tank. Car is standard except for pfc and exhaust.
