Hi all,

I need your help on a new clutch, Im running a FD3s on around 300bhp, with a limited slip diff and im taking her to Ty Croes race track in anglesea next month, Im still on a stock clutch so im thinking of putting something a bit stronger in but want to know which is gonna be the best clutch to buy???

plus Dwayne (from LindopMotorSport ) is going mental with his Mk1 Rx7 to try and beet me and we can\'t be having that, soft git shouldn\'t have built my engine so good.

I would have thought that at only 300bhp a stock clutch will be fine. Generally track work is not that hard on clutches compared to drag racing.

If you are racing you might want to look at a race clutch they tend to be a lot smaller and lighter to help reduce the rotational mass. This gives a faster reving and more responsive engine.

If you don\'t want to go to mad it might be worth looking at putting a lightweight flywheel in there while you replace the stock clutch. This give some of the above benefits but with a completely stock clutch holding power and engagement.

Personally I\'ve just gone with a twin plate carbon clutch as it weighs about the same as a small kitten and has almost stock drivability. The rev match down shift and quick stabs of throttle are going to be awesome. :D

Is there such thing as too responsive? :Giggle

Feel free to drop me a PM if you fancy anything!
Lil-Steve is.... loving it when a plan comes together.

I was definatly thinking along the lines of a carbon clutch, I would cry if i went all the way to Anglsea and the clutch died on the day. im not 100% sure of how much lifes left in it.

i dunno...300hp and a stock clutch shud be fine tbh if you got a new ish stock clutch in stock wihich im sure you must! Just run it in properly..

btw did you guys try and get hold of me yest?

No not yet mate, complications keep holding us up, we will be going soon tho, that should get a few more ponnies out the engine. did you ever hear from that rolling road people??? they said there was prizes for the top in class??? I work out what was up with mine on the rolling road it was on boosting 0.8, one of the jubile clips was nakered and was leaking boost from the intecooler :xconfused so Ive bought a front mount, (even tho a new clip wouldda been the sensiable thing to do) .

ENVYD

ahh ok mate! yeah i am going for 500 :D .

nah i aint heard out from them! i got mine on and it hit 311, but i think the RR itself was ****, as every time it ran, the power went up. Mine started at 250bhp then 275 or so, to 311 :S! mine is not holding steddy boost on the second tubby tho!

hope yous get the moving sorted like! are you going with lindop or staying at toyota?

Steve-Q

were opening Subaru with the motorsport when we move its all a bit undecided at the mo so im not sure. the fans the had were sh~~ too, plus Colin said 7\'s shud be RR\'d in 4th gear not 3rd, straight through the box and all.
