Hi All

I have a colour coded 17’ alloys which were badly scratched that the paint was off by the tire on the rim of the alloy.

I have just cleaned some of the loose paint off by using an electric hand held drill and a special head from Halfords.  I was also able to buy the primer and the right paint.

I have applied the primer twice now and next, tomorrow I will apply the paint with a brush.

My question is when do I brash down the rim with a fine sand paper and water to make the paint look smooth?  Now or after the paint job?

The effect at the moment is not too brilliant as I can see the areas which lost their paint; I hope the paint will cover them properly.

Apply the paint, several thin coats,  then sand down with fine 1200 wet n dry paper. That means you use plenty of water and sandpaper together to grind the paint down. If the paint is a good match, it will blend in and you wont notice the scuff.
