Hi, I have a problem here. Can you help?

Went out last night, popped into a shop for 5 minutes and when I came back to the car, it refused to start. Turned over, spluttered, died. While this happened, the oil, coolant and heater lights stayed on (even while I left the ignition on, but didn\'t turn it over). Final symptom - when it finally did start, driving home again, there was a strange smell like melting plastic. Still had the smell this morning on the way to work (started fine from cold though). Any ideas? Thanks!

smell of melting plastic? ....or burning rubber? I don\'t have the starting issues you have, but i started to notice a burning rubbery smell coming from mine. Turns out the air pump was rubbing against a hose coming off the back of my air box. It had worn a hole right through it! Don\'t know if your issues are connected somehow, but may be worth having a look incase it\'s something entirely different.

Difficulty to start whilst hot is usually a sign of an engine with poor compression. Has it had a rebuild recently? Get it compression tested asap mate.

As for the smell...try what he said ^ lol.
