Hi,
I rebuilt and ported my engine myself for the first time and fitted a new t04z turbo over the winter.
Thing is iv\'e noticed that the engine is burning oil on idle as there is a little too much blue oily smoke coming from the exhaust. On full boost the car runs absolutely superb with no smoke at all.
I dont think it can be the oil control rings in the engine as i replaced those,or the turbo as it\'s brand new.
Was wondering if the turbo is seeing too much oil pressure that is overcoming the ball bearings.I did not fit any sort of restictor in the oil feed line.
Does anybody know if this would cause the turbo to smoke ?
Thanks
Steve

it could be a number of things,

1) did you put the oil control ring springs in the correct way around? they are different for both the front and rear rotors.

2) you may need a restrictior in the oil feed line to the turbo.

3) is the oil drain ok? if these is a kink or it goes up hill the oil will not drain back into the engine and will get pushed out of the seals in the turbo.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Thanks mate, yes i definately put the oil control springs in the right way round, and the oil drain seems to be o.k
Iv\'e noticed my oil feed line did not come with an adaptor plate that uses the two bolt hole fixings, mine just had the screw in threaded braided hose,i think the restrictor is in this plate?.Iv\'e heard you need a restrictor of 0.03 inch for most bb turbo\'s ?
Anyone know any more
thanks...steve
