Out for a bit of a drive this evening, making the most of the nice weather and noticed some strange happenings with the handbrake warning light on the dash...

When accelerating or driving round a long bend or roundabout the light would come on.  I know the handbrake isn\'t moving because it needs to travel two clicks to activate the switch.  I also had a fiddle with the switch to see if anything was loose there and no joy.

It isn\'t really much of an issue, just wondered if anyone else had had something similar?

Could there be a contact behind the dash that is shorting out the wire at the other end, making it come on? Sounds like if there was a loose wire then when u accelerate or turn corners it would contact.

The brake warning light is also used as an indicator for low brake fluid level - if you\'re on the lower limit, then that might explain why it\'s coming on when you go around bends / roundabouts

I think the level is fine, but I\'ll double check tonight.  Didn\'t realise the light had that function too.

Thanks for the replies guys

Yep, mine did this, was the fluid, it\'s worth checking your pads too as low fluid can indicate your pads are worn
:Laugh LOL

Yeah, if it is low fluid, I\'ll certainly be concerned as to why.

If you get a cut in one of your hard pipes from a stone chip, or if your still on the rubber hoses to the calipers, these can just \'pop\' and split near the joiners - leaving a small leak that will weep fluid everytime you brake - can run low suprisingly quickly !
