Hi,
your help is needed again ! after about 3,200 miles I have noticed a significant amount of sludge (creamy/greyish in colour) on the filler cap and the tube leading up to it, as if there was a water leak, but cant understand why ? water level seems ok any ideas / anything to worry about ??
cheers

Nope nothing to worry about. The cars dont have a breather and therefore the sludge has no where to go

joes7

cheers for the quick reply - how often does this happen and is there anything i can do to stop it ? and will this cause damge ??

AshRX

depends car to car, tend to get it more in cold weather. Other half\'s 8 suffers from it but clears itself after a good run and when the weather is warmer

Yep, the yanks call it lung mustard. Not much you can do with it but leave alone.

are you sure? i thought there was a breather just off the oil filler neck?

PS were do you plumb the catch tank into?

Yes but have a look at where the breather goes - to the manifold. (This is to satisfy the emissions numpties because it does not breath to the atmosphere.)
Therefore the moisture does not dry out.

Thats true and remember also that if you are are on boost then the system is positively charged which is why there is a one way valve so it wont be "breathing" at all....
