Hi all,

Its been a long time since I last posted but I have a few (hopefully) quick questions.

I NEED to sell my RX7 because I havent had any chance to use it recently (I cant drive it to work as it wont go into the car park - damn speed bumps!) and my normal car is probably just about going to last the winter.

Its not getting used and is just sitting there mocking me....

Now the way the economy is right now I figured it might be worth my while waiting till better weather next year to sell it. I dont have a garage or a drive (but we do have parking \'bays\') and I have never had to leave a car stood for any major length of time.

We are talking 6 months or so of being left to its own devices. Basically I was wondering what the experts would recomment I do to eleviate issues when I come to run it again. Disconnect the battery etc? oil? how will the tyres take it? can I put anything on them to stop them perishing? etc etc etc

I considered a car cover but there are lots of horror stories about rubbing (I live in a windy area!) and moisture staying trapped in with the car increasing the chance of rust. So I was just going to wash and wax it to help it weather the elements.

Any other suggestions? any help apreciated. Anyone buying it is also apreciated lol

Thanks all.

their was a old rumor about filling the engine to the brim with oil when leaving them standing... tyres should be fine for 6 months as long as they are good ones.

i would wash the car and dry it well (inc door shuts) then cover it up, every now and again on a dry day take the cover off for a few hours to let any moisture dry out.

Put some petrol in it and drive it once a fortnight!! take it for a 20 mile run every couple of weeks and a tank will last you for a good few months.

Everytime your gonna take it out give it a good wash/dry/wax and just generally look after it instead of neglecting it.

Whats a couple of £70 tank fulls to keep your car right;)

i always thought you shouldn\'t drive it at all? would save you a bit on insurance too.

good idea would be to take the brake discs off to stop them pitting then chock the car, unless you\'re worried about someone towing/pushing it off. wish i\'d done that to mine as two months of standing has put a nice crust of orange all over them.
