Just got renewal quote from my existing classic car insurance and thought i could do better quite honestly than £530 standard (no mods)

So spoke to AON who the club have a deal with if you are a full member so offer further discount.

Just had a quote from them of £301 fully comp with all mods declared (Apexi, Exhaust, Wheels, Induction, Suspension) very happy with that :D:D

This is also on an agreed limit, and 5000 miles.  Dont matter about NCB due to being on a limited mileage policy and 2nd car so i\'d give them a go definately :D  I\'m 29 btw :)

With green light they only insure whats on the tax book, and as long as whats on the tax book is the same as on the code 44 database then your fine otherwise you ain\'t insured.

2616cc is on the code 44 register but only as an automatic some nice person got there insurance company to add it to the list.  However no one has done this for the manual yet.

I\'ve tried Mazda UK several times however they refuse to do it and say it isn\'t their problem.  But do agree that its a x2 654cc but under an agreement with dvla all new engines should be classed as a 2616cc (my car is a 93 FD its 15 years old thats hardly new).

I\'ve asked my current insurance company to add it to the list but they haven\'t done so yet which means I\'ll be paying in the region of £1300 for insurance this year instead of £400 quoted by green light if my car was a 2354cc (as on the Code 44 database).  Insurance is doubley hard as I live in Northern Ireland.

So every one that has there car registered as a 2616cc on their V5 ask there insurance company to add it to the list. Surely someone will do it.

the whole 654 + 654 x 2 thing is a joke; i thought the whole point of the eccentric shaft was that a twin rotor engine had the same firing frequency as a four pot Otto cycle engine?

if you had a 1.3 4cyl engine with a whacking great turbo making 250+ bhp (hypothetically!) it would still be insured and taxed as a 1.3. this all reeks of profiteering really.

Spoke to a guy at Mazda today and asked when the agreement with the DVLA was struck regarding the x2 swept volume was implemented and he is going to have a look into it, it was actually a guy from the DVLA that brought it to my attention that it (the agreement) applied to all new rotary engines (which I assume was the Renissis).

Now I remember seeing some of the RX8s being registered as 1308cc but that was changed possibly around 2003 0r 2004 can\'t remember when.

Dean was also unaware that imported FDs are only classified as 2354cc on the Code 44 database x1.8 swept volume, hopefully he\'ll get back to me with some good news, (that Mazda will say we can get the car registered as a 2354cc) and we can get insured eisier and a lot cheaper and not worry about insurance companies not paying out if the worst ever happens.

I can\'t see why not as we would remain in the same tax bracket so no revenue would be lost, here\'s hoping.

Try Graham Sykes. My car is insured through them as a 1.3 as that\'s what it is on the logbook. I\'m 18 days older than you and it comes out at 1700 with additional drivers, breakdown and euro cover.

In the Manchester area too, so not a good postcode.
