Hi Chaps,

I\'ve hit a major problem with the track car, put the seats in a few weeks ago, and my head is right up against the cage, and too close to the roof. The runners for the bucket seats are sitting on the standard cross bars that the standard seats sit on, with reinforced threaded bolt holes.

The plan was to cut out the standard cross bars and weld in some plates and bolt the frame  directly to the car, however my welder has just had a look and is not sure its going to work. I\'m meeting with him this week at the car to discuss it...

Can anybody let me know what they have done with a caged FC3S.

Its a welded in 6 point custom cages cage, cobra seats, and I have a non sunroof roof.

Any help most gratefully recieved, so close to finishing it, and i assumed this would be easy bit... whoops!

Cheers,

Charlie.

Hiya Charlie,

We suffer from the same problem....the FDs are like a tardis in reverse!

We toyed for hours as to whether to remove the cross bars, and in the end decided not to.

The best thing you can do is remove any runners and then make the thinest set of brackets that will span the section that the runners bolt to.

You will then need to add side mounts to those brackets.

My head was always close to the roof, but there is no other way around it.  Just buy a load of padding so you don\'t wreck your lid when it bangs against the cage.
