engine cut out/missfire?

Im currently having troubles with my EGI FC. Alot of the time when i try to hit the redline the engine seems to cut out or missfire, around 6500rpm?

I also had a problem with the car not starting which has been temporarily fixed, and lately ive had to push the accelerator slightly to get the engine to fire up.

any ideas to on what this could be?

fortunately the car is booked into rotecknics for tomorrow anyway, so i guess ill have to baby it there

Can you post up the following info:-

Miles on engine:
Frequency of problem:
When did it start:
What happened before it started:
Status of plugs and leads:
When was the fuel filter last changed:

Miles on engine: 45k
Frequency of problem:it was doing it once or twice a week, wont do it now
When did it start: few weeks ago, though the engine cut earlier and i was going round a corner
What happened before it started:before it started the car seemed fine
Status of plugs and leads: Not too sure, clearly the next thing to look at
When was the fuel filter last changed: around 2500-3000 miles ago


the cars just come back from rotechniks for a starting problem and this missfire/cut out. The couldn\'t find any problems with the car at all, since ive had it back its been fine ...

Ok, I\'d also recommend you check the fuel pump wiring, it can be a problem on the 2nd gens - I used to have a TII that would suffer fuel cut when taking fast left handers - was traced to a poor connection in the pump circuit.
