In the process of trying to chase what i think is a boost leak, I\'ve found a loose vacuum line - it appears that the vacuum line runs from the UIM to the oil filler neck, and has a valve in it. This seems ot be marked on the vacuum hose diagram as the \'PCV valve\'.
However, the filler neck end appears to have broken off at the nipple and the nipple is in the pipe.
What are implications of running without this connected? The car\'s going to Pip\'s tomorrwo for mapping - is it ok to run it the 80 miles or so with this disconnected?
Exactly what function does it serve?
cheers all :)

This is an extract from here:- http://robrobinette.com/pcv.htm

The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve is a one-way (check) valve that takes blow-by gasses from the engine\'s crankcase and feeds it into the extension manifold where it is sucked into the engine and burned. When the manifold is pressurized (under boost) the PCV valve prevents pressurized air from flowing into the crankcase. If the PCV valve sticks open you will loose some boost, if it sticks closed this mod is unnecessary.

Hope it helps....

Ta :)
An hour of googling later, and it seems there should be two nipples on the filler neck, one of which was capped on post 95 models. Hopefully, i should be able to seal up the broken one and just tee off the other, job done :)
Cheers :)
