hey all

i require some info on how much if any play there should be in your dif.

eg if your car is off the ground and you hold your wheel, with the gearbox in neutral when you grab the prop and move it how much will/should it move.

at the moment if i do the above i can get around 15-25mm movement?? is my diff worn or is this normal. note this was when cold.

cheers

Backlash between the pinion and crown wheel. Sounds about right to me.
Does the drive \'clonk\' when you set off or change gear. If not I would say it\'s OK. Note that diff adjustment and internal set up is a specialist job.
I\'ve just had to change my FB diff due to internal side gear wear (causing wheel play not diff play) and I\'d say I felt similar play to yours on the prop shaft afterwards.
