Idle Problems / Idle Exhaust Note

Hi there. I just bought my first rex and when i bought it i bought it cheap knowing it had problems. Here is its spec so you know what im on about:

So when i went for the test drive it started fine from cold, from hot, drove fine (part from the knocking at the back), the only thing is it idles funny when it is hot, the exhaust note goes up and down slightly but the needle on the rev counter moves very little and the boost guage needle moves up and down very little.
 
My question is what would cause this? The previous owner thinks its a dud apex seal. Could it be some sort of hose in the engine bay or something that simple. Any help is much appreciated guys. Cheers

could be boost leak, broken apex seal, vacuum problem.
Really you need to take it to a Rotary specialist

cheers. Im planning on doing this as a project. What is the hoses i should check/replace etc and where are they located?

i would say if its just when its hot it will be a vacuum leak. the rubber hoses in the bay go alot softer when hot so any cracks etc would easily open up. Perhaps the hose going to the map sensor has a leak or what i personally did was bought very cheap soft hoses off ebay that closed up under vacuum when hot, I now have no silicon hoses in my bay only couplers.
