Just got an oil pressure and oil temp gauges, but not too sure where to put the sensors...

They obviously need to be connected into the iol flow system somewhere, but can anyone tell me the best place, and how to do it?

I got the sensors and little metal block that they go into, which will let the oil flow through.

Any ideas??

Cheers

Looks like there was as good a response to this as I\'ve had so far with water temp gauge ... :Hammer

Anyone here fitted an oil temp gauge to a TII?

I was hoping that a T like these would work at the oil pressure sender?

Prof

I\'ve seen an adaptor plate that fits under the oil filter and allows 2 senders to be attached to it, as it has 2 threaded holes.  It\'s called a sandwhich plate adaptor.

I\'ve heard that they don\'t have overly long threads and can snap off in the oil plate, plus you\'ve got another couple of places for oil to leak from if it doesn\'t seal.

Good info Prof cheers.

Yes I saw the racing beat version of that on mazdatrix.

Maybe it\'s just overkill to worry about oil temp on a standard motor.  (My GF is a bit ****ed off that I have to go for a 20 minute drive just to move the car up the drive way LOL.)

I don\'t quite trust the water temp gauge though but then again the car sat in traffic for a long time in London heat once so I think it will survive in Northern Ireland!

OT Prof: do you hold a departmental chair in something other than RX7s? :p

Must repay you in some small way for getting those headlights fixed - that was the real turning point for getting the TII back on the road.

looks like the filter tower at the bottom of this page would be a better bet than a sandwich:

(Unfortunate web page name for an oil cooling product page... :Laugh )

Seems to replicate the threads on the standard oil filter mount...

I wish !  That would have been worth studying !

No - just read lots, and have spent far too much time around Rotechniks for my own good - lol

Oil temp is quite a worthwhile gauge - I had a water pump failure year before last, and temp gauge didn\'t move much above centre.  Drove it just 10 miles or so to get the pump replaced and it all seemed ok, but car had overheated and wrecked all the springs behind the seals - car \'died\' about 5 months later.  Oil temp gauge would have picked up on the elevated oil temps.

i used a oil sandwich plate with no worries

and only about 10 mins to fit ( took me about 3 hrs to get the gauges in though and all wired up )

worked just fine for me

I just sold a sandwich plate for the oil temp/pressure and that worked fine.
