How hard is it to get hold of a rear quarter panel for an FD...?

Mine is being repaired under insurance and it seems its difficult to get one... the bodyshop has been trying to get one from mazda for weeks (for some reason they come from Belgium?!?!!)

Anyone else know where I can get one myself?

nah its drivers side... :(

Am I right in thinking it needs to be a new one if you want to replace it?
Is it barking to try and get a second hand rear quarter panel and weld it on to another car...? (cos it\'ll have to be cut off and lose the weld seams)

Depends on the quality of the body shop. The drivers side rear quarter of Jono\'s car is now on mine:
Before:

After:

The entire rear quarter from lamp to door jam was cut out and replaced. Can\'t tell at all.

RedRummy

and that was cut off Jonos car and put on yours...?

interesting... maybe the bodyshop just don\'t want to do any real work...

That\'s right. I can give you the name of the guys who did mine, but they are in Bradford....
Body shops used to classics cars are a better bet as they are use to not being able to work with brand new, manufacturer parts.

Fully comp with no claims protection. It was Gods fault for having made it rain a few hours earlyer and mazda\'s fault for these cars handling so good in the dry and so bad in the wet. The road was dry but going round a long bend back end hit a wet bit, turned into it instantly but it just wouldn\'t come back.
Totaly gutted. But will have it back for the summer and i have my mates volvo s40 1.8 which is bitchen lol.
Hows Neils paint job coming on?
