Hi, I\'ve just pulled out my factory stereo out the FD to replace it with my Alpine unit.  Already had the harness adaptor to connect all the speaker and power connections etc.

However, the socket for the aerial on the car side of the wiring is the same as the socket on the back of my stereo and I\'ve been unable to find an adaptor that has a male connection at both ends in order to connect up the aerial to the HU.

All the adaptors that I\'ve seen are male at one end and female at the other!

Am I missing something obvious?
TIA :driving

You should have a male connector on the car side and female on the stereo. You might have an adaptor fitted on the car side. Try pulling at it, it might not be obvious that there is an adaptor fitted. HTH

Cool, cheers Robbie, just replied to your e-mail by the way!

If BATMAN cant help im prety sure Maplin stock the male connections that would allow you to make up a small patch lead. Cant remember how I did mine when I fitted it now but im pretty sure mine was the same.

Just to get this clear, they car has a female connector and the stereo also has a female connection so its just a male to male patch lead.

SupraZed

That\'s exactly right Yogibear, a small patch lead with one of those adaptor plugs that you buy from Halfords/Maplins attached at both ends is what I would need ideally.

Hi SupraZed,

Did the same job on my car when replacing the headunit.

Bought two Male Aerial plugs (Order code HH12N) from maplin and a length of coaxial.

The only thing I was worried about was the plug terminals coming loose over time. But 5 years and counting and no problem so far!

Cheers Andrew, at least I now know that it\'s not just me.

Batman, is this the cable you have already?
