Hi guys,

can someone tell me what they believe would cause these symptoms;

1. Clutch Extremely rough when engaging
2. shuddering of clutch
3. Whining from the rear when cruising on the motorway - neither accelerating or decelarating. - New oil

Flywheel is lightweight & has auto counterweight, Racing Beat Six Puck Unsprung clutch disc, ACT pressure plate.

diff is used 4.3 RZ.

my feeling -

1. pressure plate problem - perhaps the fact that the clutch set is is mixed and matched and not precise. clearance etc
2. Pilot Bearing? old one used and old clutch had red dust on it and clutch cover was very shiney? - or misaligned?
3. Diff did run with low oil - perhaps downhill from now as whining - or ok?

please help because i have had enough and want these sorted before i sell the car and end my rx7 misery.

i think your problem with the clutch is the fact that it is 6 puck,  they will nearly always judder when pulling away unless you rev it lots, thats why people go for twin plates which arnt much better.  I used to use a sprung 6 puck and it wasnt that bad but still worse than a stocker.

Diff,  i\'m not sure of any relevance of when it whines, but generally is due to warn bearing etc,  running low will obviously have sped things up a little.  As it hasnt exploded, you could always have it rebuilt.

As for clutch, unless your running lots of power,  try an organic friction plate with a harder pressure plate,  worked in my FC.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

well if ur diff is whining, id say worn bearings which well to put it nicely it aint gonna get no better and will progressively get worse....is this the diff you had fitted today? If so, then id look to be giving that thing back....

thanks mate, the 6 puck was recomended to me from rx motors. My car is stock HP atm or thereabouts and will be slightly higher once mapped etc thats all.

How much does getting it rebuilt cost do you know? i only had it fitted today and sourced by powergains.

i wish i had gone for the organic but my mistake i guess, didnt know whos advice to take but chose the installer.

was todays one. i guess i need to get it taken out as i dont want to break down again, ive already had my car damaged today by the ****ing aa.

i guess once again ill be out of pocket, more travel time, i will mess my tire up so much that i may get it bloody towed as something isnt right for it to be rubbing so badly on the left and then see.

I know the car is nearly complete and a damn fine example but the ride and scarred me enough and left me with a debt the sale of it will never repay so rx7 days are over for me.

it does only whine if you hold the revs at 60 70 etc

if i let off the pedal it goes away?

is that normal of a diff?

or is this something else? cant think of what and the noise is from behind :(

Have you considered the possibility that it might be your wheel bearings...not the Diff?:2Confused

as for the clutch..Ant is right.........You either like it or lump it basically...coz thats how six pucks are....sprung are better though!

Ed, wheel bearings would make a noise that you can hear straight away and that increases with speed. this just becomes apparent after 60mph and only when holding the throttle. it is also very clearly from behind. :(

Since going to kerims aswell the left wheel rubs whenever driving over anything! drain covers, just any road or motorway and it is stripping my tire bare!!! :reallymad how could this of happened and what do i do about it?

i think camber bolt has been taken out and put back or something as it is so incredibly bad and only from one side.

this now means i cannot drive it at all! i will have to pay another £100 odd to get the alignment done as one side is definatley way out.

1/cluch unless running big power i have the center force clutch allmost stock feel and handles power fine having a clutch that the terminator will struggle to hold only makes people look an ass to other drivers
2/diff whining is going to be worn diff and the noise will dissapear with the accel/deccel as the propshaft will be under different pressure
3/rubbing wheel is def not normal
something has been done to make that side different as it will only be mm difference between left and right

solutions
1/get a normal center force clutch
2/2nd hand diff fitted
3/have alignment done by professional guys ie micheldever tyres in micheldever
cost
1/approx 650 fitted
2/dont know
3/approx 100-120 quid
these cars will reduce the best of us to tears at times
i had some bad advice in my early years that cost me money

I only say that as i had exactly the same problem ona bmw,,,,only hearing it at certain speeds....nothing could be heard at slow speeds.

kerim said they same earlier, never heard of one ever going on a rex and neither has he but i really do hope it is that.

i wouldnt want to change them and then the diff to be the problem as ive changed enough unessicarly.

right now the car is undrivable as since the diff was changed the left wheel rubs like mad!!

i took the wheel off earlier in the freezing cold and lossened the toe link and out put it back on with no joy its still beyond belief and has shredded my brand new tyre.

ive just had enough
