I bought a Tyvec car cover from Halfords in large a little while ago. I was told these were the best kind of covers to fit the car. Was worried about the fitment issue but the elasticated ends of the cover tuck under the front and back of the car nicely even covering the exhaust and wheels.

The sides did move a bit so have tied them underneath the car to stop them blowing in the wind but the cover still leaves fine scratches all over the car and also patchy marks which are virtually impossible to wash off!
Is there any way to stop this cover scratching my car?! HELP!

You do have to be very careful with these covers.  The slightest bit of dirt underneath and when the wind gets up the its like rubbing your car with sandpaper!!   IMHO the only time you can use one of these is if your car AND the cover are perfectly clean.

if you have no choice you could try putting some very soft cloths on the vulnerable areas

Ive got the same problem mate, i think the best solution is to rent a garage off the council or buy urself a pre fab garage, just an idea

trying desperatly to find a good garage in a safe location without renting from someone i dont trust who has the keys to my car effectively.

i just heard that you can get some sheets that you put over the car then cover on top so thought id ask.

paint is getting killed and its impossible to clean the car and put it away after every use :(

so frustrated atm

I have the same cover mate and put towels on the car where it rubs. Seems to work well.

Also worth putting another elasticated strap round to stop it blowing.

Ita a lot of titting around, just buy a proper one thats made not to scratch, false economy.
By putting clothe and towels under your cover on your car, its asking for rust and problems.
If you dont use your car for a week especially in winter the towels etc will be soaked. Its like putting a sponge on metal and not expecting any consequences.

I have to agree with the propper one statement as I have no trouble with mine at all.  But if both surfaces are not clean then you will run in to trouble no matter which one you have!
