Ahh it wasnt the car temp..... See previous thread!

The FC will flood at start ( Use new fuel cutout swich and the car will start, Then will Miss badly at Idle when fuel pump turned on.). When the car is free reved, It will miss and splutter, When Fuel pump is turned off it will rev cleanly.

Car stumbles badly under acceleration. It is sort of drivable under 3000 but above this misses and blows smoke ( Blows a little smoke and pops and bangs, But if you switch off the fuel = 1/2 second of smooth!) And is fuming so bad you can smell it in a car behind!

If it is real bad you can see the Smoke puff, Oil stinks of petrol.

I tried running the leadings off the trailing coil to check if it Was a faulty coil / Igniter ( Even harder to start so cancel that!) So Coils seem ok, But The Tacho needle sometimes gives a Flutter. Spark from both coils is Healthy.

The TPS is ok ( When put to idle position when car has throttle, car Drops revs)

It basically happened suddenly in the carpark at work Just after I started the car. After the (Long) drive home the Missing sort of dissapears but is still a pain to start.

I have fuel pressure behind the Reg when it is removed after the car sits for a while so I think That the Injectors are not leaking. And the reg flow seems correct. ( I did stick 2 bottles of injector cleaner through the car when the car displayed a Reluctance to start just before it all happened .) So I think fuel is OK.

Ive run 30 litres of premium thrugh the car and added a Splash of metho to catch any water in the fuel.

I have fitted new leads, coil, Dizzycap and button, regooped the Igniters, Fuelfilter and new airfilter. I have also WD40\'d the TPS , Mixture and Airflow plug.

Short of pulling out the Airflow sensor and checking it, any other Ideas? (Temp is ok which sort of self prooves the temp sender as the ECU controlls the gauge.)

Oh, and the Fuel relay works, And the spare made no difference.:xconfused

Has this ECU got a limp home mode? Itsa S4 88 model...

Martiny

Leaky injector?
But I cant see how that would happen suddenly, rather than progressively.

Have you done the obvious... replaced the sparkplugs?

Kaptainbalistik

NGK 8\'s nice and new! Im starting to think its a failing coil causing Phantom triggering.

Does anyone know which coil the ECU takes the trigger off? The Haynes manual only has Coilpack ( And my Mazda manual copy!)

Brett

IIRC The FC\'s do have a limp mode - have you tried diconnecting the battery to reset?
Brap Brap Brap Brap

Kaptainbalistik

New coils and ecu reset today, then Fuel pressure check!:spank

Kaptainbalistik

Fuel pressure is at 40psi, needle flickers while cranking ( Its injecting!) if anything new coils made it worse!

Car now flooded so badly there is this guy called Noah asking for a coupple of animals.........

Martiny

Gosh, ummmmmm Injector stuck open?

Disconnect the secondary injectors and lets see what happens.

Kaptainbalistik

Im going to try it, but the fuel system is holding pressure!

Todays update proudly brought to by my good mates Al Col and Holly

So I goes and ye fight with the red beast apon the lawn , And it doth give forth its throat and Flappy thing retained within.

Lo as thy remove source of thys Lightining , My trusty sabre spits flame and there is a flash as the smoke falls out, ( Next time I will disconnect the source of tis unholy powers....)

As I gape into the Mow of the great beat that slumbers I spy The source of the monsters\'s temperant, I remove and does spy it is a partial( It is renered asunder inside , zounds!)

I consult the Book of armament ( Its after revelation...) St Monty is my Fave!

It doeth say, Ye Gauge sender of doom shal read 2-2.5 Khm at a Temp of a mead and 0.7 degree of Kohm ( Pagans , I spit at them!) when nestled in the Fires of Hell.

It doeth read 8Kohm , The reading of when it is nestled in the Busom of the Ice witch.

Methinks I have found why the Dragon doeth complain! My trusted Lord ( I am only a Mere squire) is returning with an "easyout"

Retreat, NEVER!!!!!!!

Yep temp gauge is broken, Its reading very high and The outer is jammed in the block. I thought I smelt coolant! It thinks its at -35 degrees!

That and fitting the starter to te RX2 is going to drive me nuts!

Kaptainbalistik

One eazyout, one mini shifter and a spare sensor out of my 13T bits......:3gears-rh :driving :Hammer

:InLove again.....
