What sound does an air leak make?

:Hammer... I\'ve had this for a while, it comes and goes but recently its been bugging me...
At first I was wearing in the engine since the rebuild, not going past 4000rpm- 1st turbo was great fun!
After the wear in period i took it past 4000rpm expecting super speed but she didn\'t like it too much...! she\'d pull back and make a noise kinda rubbery, kinda like air escaping and flapping about. But then I thought if the turbo hose was leaking, wouldn\'t the engine keep accelerating on its own without the turbo, and wouldn\'t the 1st turbo not boost either?
The engine litrally disallows any acceleration past 4.5k revs... the needle just fluctuates between 4.4 and 4.5...

The problem overcame itself somehow after a while and it was AWESOME :mmmm

Now recently I\'ve got that initial problem again...

When I\'m not in gear the engine revs freely & quickly, also after being in another \'7 i\'ve noticed that in 1st gear my 1st turbo doesn\'t boost... but it does in all the other gears... Awkward or what...?!

Any ideas, suggestions or *buzz words* you guys could suggest I try searching?

atm I don\'t really have a 2nd turbo, so I was thinking about taking her up to the legends @ rxmotors & single turbo her... BUT I would like to learn a bit and have a go at fixing my rex\'s problems so I can soon be uber \'7 handy myself :driving

rxmotors would be the first to help a newbie owner out, but I don\'t want to keep running back to them with every minor problem I have.... thus this long post... sorry for the read, but I hope you guys can give me a bit of a pointer!

Thanks a lot buddies,

Seth.

Bobbit

could be the cat has collapsed(sp?)? That may explain why the revs wont go higher under load
:Laugh LOL

It\'s a manual, bobbit- would that mean the turbos & hoses are fine but the collapsed cat is "throttling" the revs so that it can\'t actually get to the point where it can boost.

Is a collapsed cat a serious problem/difficult to fix? :(

Jit

sounds wierd....bring it round if you want dude and ill have a looksie att it?

Bobbit

that\'s sounds about right bud. If the cat is shot then you will not be able to boost as the pressure cannot get past the blockage. Slap a de-cat on there bud!

I thought my exhuast was free flowing, which just confuses me even more! :Hammer
I managed to dent the back box on a speed hump is that would have the same affect... :eek
