Hi guy\'s having a little difficulty!! How on earth do you get the stock steering wheel off of a 1993 FD? I took the horn button off then a piece of plastic. Then popped off the horn contacts. I am left with a rectangular hole in the metal work inside the steering that is not quite big enough to fit a socket! I can see I need a 21mm socket and tried the one from the boot. I can force this in just but then there is not enough left sticking out to turn.. I assume there must be an easier way..
Please help...

Cheers

All should come off in 1, have you undone the screw underneath the steering wheel
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

Thank you for the reply..

I have taken the screw out but not sure what it holds on.. My main problem is I cannot see how I get access to the big nut that is holding it on!!

Is there a special socket or does some of the metal work come out of the way?? A standard socket is no where near going through the hole. Does a piece of plastic come away to give access with a spanner?

Please let me know

just pull the whole center of the steering wheel off. The nut has loads of space around it

I did this two days ago,

Like my man says you need to undo the screw underneath as from memory that holds the metal cage contraption on which stops you getting a socket on the big nut..

The wheel needs to be broken down to pieces to take off..

Pop that screw out, then there are three push fittings that the metal sits in. just pull the metal cage towards you having undone that screw and it should come off

Cheers chaps.. I\'ll go give it a tug then!!
