B&M KEW VOLT - what on earth is it?

Got this thing under the engine bay with wires coming out, says \'B&M (the make) KEW VOLT\' anyone know what this is, I guess its a spark amplifier, if so do I need different spark plugs to usual or are the standard NGK plugs okay.
