Hi I just bought an FC is an 89 so im guessing a EGI as its non turbo. Its had a ported sport 13B engine at refit time. Its pretty cool but.....

1) Its a bit smelly... When its running it gives off a bit of pong form the bonnet area???
2) It used about £30 in petrol to do 160 miles, is that about right???

Does anyone have any ideas?

Other than that its great :)

Welcome,

What sort of smell does it give?  If its petrol then it could be a leaky injector.

As for the fuel that sounds about right, some of the FC owners will give u exact figures.

Its gonna sound stupid as it kinda answers my question, but oily, so im guessing its oil, but where form??? It doesnt smell like clutch, i smelt enough of that off my old car :)

Speak or PM t2rew - he has plopped an FD 13b into an FC and he knows more about engines than me (a lot more)

K, im pretty sure most have 13b enigines. but anywa im having it checked out in Coventry on wednesday, along with a good tune.

It idles a bit funny as well just a bit blippy like im  tapping the accelerator the smallest amount but im not.

What kinda fuel do i need to use, do i really have to be using supre unleaded all the time. Does it make a difference, performance etc???

Has anyone fitted remote contral locking to the standard system??? Is it easy???

I need a bit of paint for it then itll look sweet and ill have a picture for here :)

Unfortunately, porting means altering the port timing. This means you lose smoothness at the bottom, especially idling. The port timing gets changed to move the power band further up the rev range.  Its not smooth because the combustion is not complete. You also get burnt gasses staying in the chamber. So, this also all affects economy , especially at idling and low revs.

I had a standard EGI, and it returned about 4.5 - 5.0 miles per litre.
