Hi Guy\'s I have posted looking for a project car FD3... Along side this can someone confirm if the wiring looms, ECU and general plumbing are the same accross years? i.e can a motor form a 1992 model drop into say a 1996 model? or will a motor form a single oli cooler model fit into a twin oil cooler model.. If no please can you advise if the conversion is cheap and easy or a costly ball ache.. basically I have my eyes on a 1995 engine, box and loom from an RB.. which if I am correct is a twin oil cooler model. I want to know if this could go into a 1992 or 1997 say just the same? I have read somewhere the later ECU\'s are different higher Bit rating I think? Are the plugs still the same? can you put a later model ECU  into an early model car?

Thank you

The ECU plugs are very different, so the answer is no, a later year engine and loom would not mate with an older model.
Having said that, you could remove the engine loom and replace with an older engine loom, but that would be a nightmare as the rats nest is a single box on the newer engine opposed to several solenoids on the old engine.

Oil coolers are just a matter of piping, so that wont be a problem!

OK.. So that being said.. Can you confirm if the wiring changed on the 1996 model or before? i.e will a 1993 car be the same as a 1995 car?

Thank you
