What is this? Unplugged box ..

Hi,
 
quite an unusual question but does anyone know what the hell this box is? My mate owns the car and i\'m looking to buy it off him. he has no alarm fob with it and has no alarm certificate but it does have a flashing blue light and what looks like a receiver. i found this box under the drivers side near the pedals, it appears that one set of cables has being pulled out of it but i dont know if its being caught by someones foot or left like that on purpose. Anyone have any idea if its part of an alarm or something aftermarket, or standard ? obviously the car doesnt ever immobilise and i cant see a siren anywhere either.

Certainly looks like an alarm with a remote pager function.

thats a spot on find Prof, looks identical from the picture on the site, seems a cheap alarm though and as i have no fitting certificate that will have to be removed before another one can be fitted :/

It looks like a diy attempt to fit an alarm. To do it properley you remove the dashboard.

yeah its annoying that its been done half arsed, especially as i / someone will need to remove it all before fitting another one :/
